牛津大学客座教授:英语学术语言中动词用法
不同的语言，其学术语言的表达方式也各有特色。本文主要介绍英语学术论文中动词用法。
英语表达一个动作往往有多种选择：
-动词+助词
-动词+介词
-单独的动词
前两种经常使用于课堂讲座和日常用于，最后一种则经常用于学术论文中。例如：
1. Given our fast-paced society, people must routinely put creative solutions to unexpected problems into practice. 鉴于我们快节奏的社会，人们必须定期将针对意外问题的创造性解决方案付诸实践。
-Given our fast-paced society, people must routinely implement creative solutions to unexpected problems.
Put…into practice(口语) = implement（学术语言）
2. Many software manufacturers in developed countries put up with/tolerate widespread copyright violations in less developed countries and often even offer local versions of their products. 发达国家的许多软件制造商忍受了欠发达国家普遍存在的版权侵权行为，甚至经常提供其产品的本地版本。
-put up with = tolerate
3. Scientists are looking into/investigating innovative drug delivery systems that can transport and deliver a drug precisely and safely to its site of action. 科学家们正在研究创新的药物输送系统，该系统可以将药物精确、安全地运输和输送到起作用的部位。
-look into = investigate
类似的动词有：
– figure out = determine
– come up with = develop
– make up = constitute
– get rid of = eliminate
– go up to = reach
